Longing to be on The Other Side of the Storm

Constance Bell’s intimate testimony penned in “Longing to be on the Other Side of the Storm” is an easy and smooth read. Written in first person, the details of her journey about her health, are coupled with firsthand accounts from family and close friends. The added measure of those viewpoints allow for a full-scale depiction of the story. The format is reminiscent of a visual documentary. Creating small clipped reels imaged as the pages are turned.

Honesty

Constance’s faith is undeniable from beginning to end. As a gallant woman of God, her Christian beliefs guided her throughout the ordeal of her questionable health. While her loved ones worried as she underwent lifestyle changes, mounting doctor’s visits, and behavioral concerns, it was all comforted by scripture and prayer. However, this is not a cut and dry tale. The honesty of her accounts by ignoring signs and words of intuition sprinkled along the pages. There are multiple mentions of self-diagnosis while taking her health into her own hands. Whether it was with more sleep, a new diet, or researching her latest symptoms, we can all relate to succumbing to the burden of our stubbornness. In time, the wisdom of knowing did take form. What we may not recognize, others may be able to see clearly. Her strength solidified not only by the understanding of God’s words over her life, but the support of the family and friends to care for her throughout the process.

How to make it through the storm? (Page 162 – 163)

1.      Have a personal relationship with God.

2.      Take authority over the situation.

3.      Have a strong support group.

4.      God’s word is supernatural (Speak Life).

5.      Never give up or quit.

It is a brave feat for Constance to be so forthcoming with her diagnosis, the struggles, the surgeries and ultimately the accomplishment of triumph. Using her artistry to shed light on the importance of health and wellness is beyond commendable. Where some understandably choose to shy away from admittance, she decided to be the voice of hope. It is not the depiction of perfection, but the admirable account of love and overcoming. The victory was hers to claim. This book allows for those who are in questionable storms to see the sunrise peak through clouds. “Weeping may remain for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning,” Psalm 30:5. May your sunrise shine brightly.
